AoU Research Priorities Use Cases

Dietary and microbial-derived metabolites may modulate body weight and contribute to overweight and obesity.

Integrate multi-omic approaches (metabolomic, proteomic, inflammasome, microbiome analyses) with dietary assessment and clinical data in a nested cohort study. Dietary and/or microbial metabolites may modulate body weight and may influence other comorbidities. A comprehensive analysis of inflammatory and metabolic biomarkers of oxidative stress, nutritional assessment, short chain fatty acids and other microbial metabolites may provide predictive markers of weight gain or obesity.
