AoU Research Priorities Use Cases

What are the best acute management strategies for children with stroke?

Key problem: While there is research and advances on treatment for adult stroke, acute stroke treatment for pediatrics has not been included. The TIPS trial (tPA in peds) was terminated due to lack of enrollment. Hence, there are no guidelines for treating acute stroke in children. Lack of timely medical intervention can result in more profound disabilities or death.

Methods: Conduct research to identify safe and effective treatment for acute stroke in ages 18 years and younger.
